Last summer Motorola introduced its flagship, the highly customizable Motorola Moto X.

Few months later just on time for time for the holiday shopping the company took the wraps off from the Motorola Moto G. The handset has a lot to offer to its users in every aspect you can think of. It is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat, works with a Snapdragon chip and boasts a 5MP rare camera with a lot of capabilities.

It meets the expectations of users not only in terms of specs and possibilities but also about the price. Motorola announced that its goal is to provide a modern handset for less than $200 and so it did. Today the phone can be purchased for a little over $160 worldwide. But for that, later....

Appearance and display

 

Moto G sports an appealing design with elegant silhouette and slightly curved body. It feels great in the hand not only because the shape of the device makes it easy to hold but also because it comes in the perfect size with dimensions 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6 mm. Motorola offers different covers for the model to provide the most fulfilling user experience you will enjoy. 

The screen of Moto G is 4.5-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 720p. The pixel density of the model is 326ppi. It is needless to say that Moto G stands out with a great display for its category with excellent picture quality, vivid colors and clear details. The screen stretches almost from corner to corner and from side to side. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. 

The Moto G comes with removable backplates. Motorola offers rich abundance of colors for the shells as well as accessories made of different materials to meet the different preferences of users. 

Hardware

 

Motorla Moto G works with a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip. The company shows a good example how users will not have to make a compromise with the performance of the device when they are buying a budget phone. Moto G is powerful and fast smartphone, appropriate for multitasking, games, work etc. It provides 1GB RAM and works with Adreno 305 GPU. The internal storage in the mid-ranger is in two options, either 8GB or 16GB. There is no slot for microSD cards. The phone is released in a variant with dual-SIM capabilities. 

Platform

 

When Motorola presented the Moto G it made it clear that the company wants to assure for users a smartphone that works on the latest update of the operating system. When the phone was first launched it arrived with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Motorola provides an update for the model with the Android 4.4 KitKat. 

The company has limited the customizing of the platform to minimum so users will enjoy an experience close to stock Android. It is provided with all the usual apps and features. Among the more interesting is the Motorola Assist app that makes it easy for users to manage calls and messages.

Camera

 

The main camera of Motorola Moto G is a 5MP sensor on the back with LED flash, autofocus and plenty of possibilities. It works with simple user interface. The camera works the best in ambiance with good light and not so good in low-light conditions. It can record a 720p video. The front shooter provided in the model is with 1.3MP. 

Connectivity  

 

The connectivity features that are supported by Moto G include GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi. The original smartphone does not support 4G LTE connectivity. However the latest rumors about the phone suggest that Motorola will introduce special versions of Moto G with LTE support and a Ferrari variant in South America. We will wait and see. Other than that, Moto G provides a good package of connectivity possibilities that will serve you well during the day. 

Battery

 

The cell working under the hood of Moto G is a 2070mAh battery. The practical usage of the phone shows that it can last for around 2-3 days during a normal day before it needs recharging of the battery.

Motorola Moto G is definitely one of the most attractive mid-rangers available today. It is released worldwide. The main advantages of the model are its new platform, fast processor and plenty of capabilities for customizing of the appearance through accessories and interchangeable shells. The lack of LTE connectivity might be a deal-breaker for some users. The low price of the Moto G makes the handset an excellent choice for those of you who are looking for a modern and reliable model but are not ready to spend a lot of cash.
