Android 5.0 Lollipop is the New Sweet Upgrade of the Platform


The new sweet android update is officially here after long months of anticipating. Google introduced the Android L back in summer during its developers’ conference I/O. The company revealed only a bit of the improvements and the new features coming in the platform but there was a lot about Android L that was kept in mystery, like the name of the update. The most discussed names forAndroid L were Android Lemon Meringue Pie and Android Lollipop. 

Now we know officially that the 5th upgrade of the Google’s mobile operating system is called Android 5.0 Lollipop. The mobile giant launched the platform on 15th of October along with the debut of the first devices that are running on it out-of-the-box – Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. What is new in 5.0 Lollipop? The design of the platform is refreshed with new so called Material Design. It provides more fulfilling visual experience for users and more colorful and vivid look of the user interface. In terms of functionality and features, the 5.0 Lollipop has the capabilities to respond in touches in more intuitive way. 


The goal of Google is to bring the Material Design across all types of Android-running devices. The upgrade brings plenty of improvements including enhanced options in the notifications, a battery saver feature and many more. The releasing of the update has begun. What Sweet Name Will be Chosen for Android L? Lemon Meringue Pie?

In the beginning of the summer Google unveiled the new platform Android L. The name is not the official title of the update. The mobile giant has the tradition to call the upgrades of Android after desserts – Cupcake, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean and KitKat. Many of us are very curious about the final name of the Android L update. 

Thanks to the fellows of Android Police some information from sources has leaked about this topic. It seems that the latest evidence point the name Lemon Meringue Pie. In recent leaks the abbreviation LMP was spotted in different items that refer to it. It is included in the preview SDK for the Android L. Not to mention that the upcoming HTC Nexus tablet also confirms those rumors in the filing for its Wi-Fi certification where LMP is included in the section with details for the firmware. 

Lemon Meringue Pie is only one of the thousands of possibilities that Google might choose for the sweet name of Android L. Among the most discussed suggestions are Lollipop, Lindor and Lemonheads. Do you have your suggestions too?

Faster Android Web Browsing with Simple Tweaks


Don’t you just love browsing through the web from your smartphone or phablet? If you do, and if you are an Android user this trick will help you enjoy a faster browsing experience. The secret tweak is shared from the guys of Wired. They have explored various tricks for improving the speed of the Google Chrome browser.

The final result shows that the most effective boosting of the speed requires simple changing of the settings in the Google Chrome mobile browser. The idea is to change the memory that the app uses. The tweak is shared by the Reddit user erythrocytes64. What you need to do is:

  1. Open a new Chrome tab.

  2. Type: “chrome://flags/#max-tiles-for-interest-area” instead of web address. You are supposed to see a menu that will pop up

  3. Select 512 instead the default setting of 128. The user recommends to choose 256 if you are using an older smartphone.



  4. The last step is to tap the Relaunch now option. This step will restart your browser and you will enjoy much faster and fulfilling browser experience and improved scrolling.
