Motorola Nexus 6 Release Date Revealed


The Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone made its official debut in the digit world just recently accompanied by the HTC-made tablet Nexus 9. Both models have a lot to offer to fans of modern mobile devices. Fortunately we will not have to wait long until the Nexus 6 reaches the markets. 

The expected date for the beginning of the pre-orders of the phone is 29th of October. The price for the new handset is $649 for the phone with 32GB memory and $699 for the device with 64GB storage. Nexus 6 will be released internationally. In the States it is coming to all the major mobile operators. The big date for the launching of the Nexus 6 from T-Mobile is 12th of November. Soon after that it will be available in the shelves of Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular. 

The new handset is packed with a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560p. It stands out with the latest software pre-installed out-of-the-box – Android 5.0 Lollipop. The cameras of the model are a 13MP sensor on the rare panel with dual-LED flash, and 2MP camera on the face panel. In the gut of the Nexus 6 is working a 2.7GHz quad-core processor with Snapdragon 805 chip and 3GB RAM. The battery of the device is 3220mAh cell. The available color options are cloud white and midnight blue.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is the New Sweet Upgrade of the Platform


The new sweet android update is officially here after long months of anticipating. Google introduced the Android L back in summer during its developers’ conference I/O. The company revealed only a bit of the improvements and the new features coming in the platform but there was a lot about Android L that was kept in mystery, like the name of the update. The most discussed names forAndroid L were Android Lemon Meringue Pie and Android Lollipop. 

Now we know officially that the 5th upgrade of the Google’s mobile operating system is called Android 5.0 Lollipop. The mobile giant launched the platform on 15th of October along with the debut of the first devices that are running on it out-of-the-box – Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. What is new in 5.0 Lollipop? The design of the platform is refreshed with new so called Material Design. It provides more fulfilling visual experience for users and more colorful and vivid look of the user interface. In terms of functionality and features, the 5.0 Lollipop has the capabilities to respond in touches in more intuitive way. 


The goal of Google is to bring the Material Design across all types of Android-running devices. Pricing of the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 Revealed Hours Before Announcement


HTC and Motorola are in charge for the manufacturing of the upcoming additions to the Nexus line. If you haven’t heard yet, HTC is working on Nexus 9 while Motorola will launch the Nexus 6. The leaks from the last weeks revealed a lot of the mystery around the upcoming devices. The rumor mill has just delivered new information about the models regarding their prices. The sources of the leak are two retailers from Germany, Saturn and Media Markt. 

HTC Nexus 9 is expected to cost €399 unlocked for the 16GB variant Wi-Fi. Users that want double more storage 32GB will pay €489. The LTE-enabled device with 32GB will sell for €569. Nexus 9 is coming in white and black options. If we sum up the leaked information until now, we have a 8.9-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2048p. It is armored with Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with 64-bit architecture. Nexus 9 features 8MP camera on the back coupled with 3MP sensor on the front. In addition, it boasts dual front speakers. The HTC-made Nexus 9 is outfitted with a slick body with brushed aluminum frame. Its panel weighs 480 grams.

Motorola Nexus 6 is provided with 5.9-inch QHD screen. It is powered by quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 805 chip and 3GB RAM. The main camera of the device is with 13MP. It works with 3200mAh battery. The rumored price for Nexus 6 is €569 for the 32GB variant and €649 for the 64GB device.

Ultra Violet is the Upcoming Upgrade for Google Hangouts for Desktops

Don’t you just love the messaging apps? Over a year ago Google launched the Hangouts app which is the successor of the Google Talk. The first version of the app did not have a lot to impress its users with. However Google quickly begun adding up improvements. Not long after the Hangouts app became available for download, the company included SMS support and merged conversations amongst other features. Google Hangouts is one of the most popular free to use messaging apps today. 

The good news for all the users of the application is that an update is coming soon. The source of the leak is Florian Kiersch who posted screen shots of the “Ultra Violet.” According to Kiersch this is the codename for the upgraded version of the popular messaging app. The Ultra Violet comes with an improved design and functionality and new features. One of them is a new extension for Google Chrome browser. Something interesting that is noticed on the pictures is that the Ultra Violet’s extension can be moved around on the desktop of the user. 

The upcoming features include Chat Heads-style icons for each conversation of the user. The sources reveal that Ultra Violet is still undergoing tests. There is no information about its launching yet. The upcoming features are purposed for the desktop versions of the app. Google is yet to unveil whether it is planning to include them in the Hangouts for Android as well. Stay tuned.

Android Wear and Google Fit Enrich the World of Wearable Tech


In the beginning of this year Google made the hint that it is working on a special mobile platform that is purposed for wearable tech and it is based on Android. The name of the operating system is Android Wear. Just a few months after we heard about the existence of the platform Google officially unveiled the Android Wear at its developers’ conference I/O 2014 that took the place in San Francisco, CA, USA this week. There is a lot to say about the new operating system and certainly a lot more to discover when the first devices working on it go on sale for the vast audience.

Before we have got the chance to land hands on the first smartwatches, it is good to know what to expect from the Android Wear. It is a new gesture-based OS that is purposed to work on screens with different shapes and resolutions and to bring the most fulfilling functionality to devices that don’t have keyboard. The platform is designed to connect with a smartphone so it can unleash its potential. It will pull out info from the Google Now application in the phone or the tablet. The smartwatches running on Android Wear will display notifications and provide the possibilities for answering or ignoring calls. The music player will also be easily controlled from the wearable tech. 

 
The navigating through the software will happen with swipes from right to left and the opposite as well, swiping from down to top and the opposite – each provides different functionality. The first smartwatches that arrive with Android Wear out of the box are LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. Rumors say that Motorola Moto 360 and a new advanced timepiece from ASUS. The SDK is already available for download and work for developers.

The Android Wear is not the only platform for wearable devices that Google introduced. It finally made official the rumored Google Fit Platform. As the name suggest it is a health-related fitness orientated operating system that boasts different features. It will be able to collect information from apps and services of your devices and bring it together in a more summarized form. The companies that have already confirmed their plans to launch Google Fit-powered devices are HTC, Adidas, Nike and LG.

Google Glass is Upgraded. Beta Glass is Available in the UK


Google is working hard to develop significant devices and software for the market for wearable devices. The Google Glass is the most famous high-end eye-wear that is yet to be announced by the company. As part of the Glass Explorer program, the wearable tech is getting more and more improved with each next update. 

The latest upgrade of the hardware of the Glass was introduced by Google just before the major event in the digit world – Google’s developers’ conference I/O 2014. The improvements in the Google Glass include a double boost of the RAM. The eye-wear now ships with 2GB RAM instead of 1GB in the earlier prototypes. The new version of the gadget enables more efficient way for taking photos. All the users need to do is to say “OK Glass, show the viewfinder” and like a magic the 4 white Ls will appear in the corners of the Glass to frame the photo you are shooting. 


As expected the eye-wear is enriched with more cards for Google Now – for example cards to remind you for the location where you have parked your vehicle.

Google Glass will Support Google Wallet Feature


In the growing world of wearable tech, the launching of the Google Glass is one of the most anticipated events. The advanced eye-wear is a long-term project of the mobile giant as part of the Glass Explorer program. Google slowly but steadily is improving the capabilities of the Glass with every update it rolls-out. The company is working hard on presenting the advantages of the Glass and its benefits from integration in different spheres of people’s lives, from medicine, to driving to every day tasks.

The launching of the eye-wear is expected to happen later in the year. Rumors say that the newest feature that Google is adding to the Glass is the Google Wallet support. The company recently included the Wallet in the Gmail giving the opportunity to users to perform easy and fast transactions. The users of Google Glass will also be able to send and receive money to their friends. As expected there will be a voice command for the operation… “Send money.” For now the feature is available only to users that are signed in to the Google’s corporate network. Hopefully soon more Glass wearers will be able to use the practical feature. The possibilities of the advanced eye-wear are expanding rapidly.
