Samsung at IFA 2014 II – the Extraordinary Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Turns Heads

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge introduced

IFA once again did not disappoint even the highest expectations of the tech enthusiasts and fans of innovative mobile devices. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge came as a nice surprise. The Korean manufacturer managed to keep the existence of the extraordinary phablet in secret.

What is so special about the Galaxy Note Edge?

It has an edgy design – the large-sized smartphone boasts a curved display on the right side that can work completely separately from the main screen. The advantages of the curve seem to be a lot. There is no doubt that developers will make the best of it and we will wait and see how users will accept it. It is hard to put in words how the curves side of Galaxy Note Edge works in real. Therefore, I recommend watching the video below where the guys from…. are showing the model in work. Overall the new device is based on Galaxy Note 4 and most of the specs of the original phablet are integrated in the curvy smartphone as well. It comes with a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED QHD glass. It is smaller than the display of Galaxy Note 4 but let’s not forget the curve. It actually increases the screen with 160p.

The CPU ticking under the hood is either a quad-core with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip clocked at 2.5GHz or octa-core Exynos 5433 with 3GB RAM and 32GB native memory (expandable). The rare camera is the same 16MP sensor with Smart OIS paired with 3.7MP front snapper. The software running on the model is Android 4.4 KitKat. Just like the original device it is packed with UV sensor and heart-rate sensor. There is an S Pen stylus in the package. It works with a 3000mAh cell under the hood. The Galaxy Note Edge is expected to be available for purchase in the end of the year.

few words at end: Galaxy Note Edge is the new attempt of Samsung after Galaxy Round to grab the interest of users who are open to new concepts. How do you like the idea of bringing more “edge” in your day?

Say “Hello” to Nokia X2, the New Android-Based Entry-Level Smartphone

Recently Nokia teased on its website the upcoming “Green with envy” device and it quickly fueled the rumors that the Nokia X2 is coming for its debut sooner than later. Earlier this year Nokia launched the first smartphones running on the Google’s Android. The predecessor of Nokia X2 is the Nokia X, reveals four months ago. The model was much anticipated by Nokia’s users who were not the biggest fans of the Windows Phone platform. The Nokia X2 is an upgrade of the older device in almost all aspects, from exterior to internals and capabilities. Speaking of exterior, the Nokia X2 brings a nice new feature that was absent in Nokia X – a home button beneath the screen.

The new phone is armored with a 4.3-inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Just for a comparison, the Nokia X is a 4-incher with the same resolution. In the gut of Nokia X2 is ticking a dual-core CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset and 1GB RAM. It is provided with only 4GB storage. Users that need more memory can take advantage from the option to expand it via microSD slot.

The platform pre-installed on the Nokia X2 reminds a lot to the Windows Phone OS. However it is the Android platform enriched in the style of Nokia and packed with some of the characteristic features for the company, like Nokia HERE. The phone does not support the Google’s services, but a lot of the Android apps from third parties are compatible with the model. The cameras that are integrated in the Nokia X2 are two – a 5MP sensor on the rare panel paired with a VGA camera on the face side. The connectivity features are the expected for the entry-level devices – Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-FI and 3G. An 1800mAh cell assured the juice for the handset.

The new phone comes in bright color options – green, black, yellow, orange, white and matt dark grey. The launching and the availability of the smartphone are already announced. It costs $135 (€99) and it is already up-for-sales in some retailers. Nokia will release the phone globally.

few words at the end: It is good that we didn’t have to wait a whole year for the launching of the upgrade of Nokia X. Nokia X2 is definitely a decent entry-level device armored with an extraordinary package of specs.

Amazon announced that it will hold a big event on 18th of June and right on time in Seattle the company unveiled its first model smartphone. The rumors that giant online retailer is working on its own handset have been lingering on the web for some time now. The earliest speculations and predictions suggested that Amazon might choose a similar path for the phones to its budget series tablets Kindle Fire. Some months ago it became clear that the company will enter the mobile arena with something special rather than with something cheap.

The leaks for the smartphone of Amazon made the hint for a very interesting device coming up in the digit world. The rumor mill was delivering more and more gossips and leaks about a phone with user interface with 3D effect, something unseen in the mobile arena until now. The anticipation and the excitement for the debut of the new handset were increasing with everyday and on 18th of June we finally welcomed the Amazon Fire Phone.

The new device comes with a user interface named Dynamic Perspective. It is less exciting than what we expected to see but more interesting than what we are used to use with the current smartphones and flagships. The Dynamic Perspective UI works with four face cameras that track the movements of the eyes of the user. The features enable users to initiate actions via simple moving of the device. Those of you who remember the teaser video released by Amazon, one of the participants expressed the user experience with “it moved with me.”
The Amazon Fire Phone works with a 4.7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 720p protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core processor with Snapdragon 800 silicon. The phone is provided with 2GB RAM. It comes with a 13MP camera sensor on the rare panel that works as an ordinary camera. One of the special features provided by Amazon is the free unlimited photo storage on the Amazon’s Cloud Drive. The platform pre-installed on the handset is Amazon Fire OS which is the highly customized user interface of the company based on Android. As expected the retailer has added easy access to most of its services via the phone.

The connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and LTE support. The storage provided in the model is either 32GB or 64GB. There is no microSD slot for expansion, but even the 32GB variant should be more than enough to store your apps, music and files. The photos can be easily saved in the free cloud space. The battery that gives juicy to the phone is with a capacity of 2400mAh. Amazon has added great stereo speakers to the device. The earbuds have built-in magnets and tangle-free cable.

The New Outstanding Additions of Samsung – Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Tablets

One of the biggest events from the last week in the digit world was the announcement of the first generation tablets of the new line Samsung Galaxy Tab S. What is so special about those models? The answer is easy – they are armored with impressive Super AMOLED displays. The main benefit for users is the superior visual experience delivered by the tablets with vivid colors with brilliant contrast and saturation.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 bring all the goodies that Samsung traditionally provides for its high-end devices. This means that the tablets stand out with fascinating designs, powerful hardware, capable and modern software and plenty of innovative features.

The smaller model is the 8.4-incher dubbed Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Just like its bigger sibling, the slate is dressed in ultra thin panel with dimensions 212.8 x 125.6 x 6.6 mm. The glass equipped in the tablet is Super AMOLED with WQXGA 2560 x 1600p resolution. For those of you that want more details for the display, I will mention that it features higher pixel density of 359ppi compared to the 288ppi for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.5.

The processors integrated under the hood of both models are two variants. The models with LTE connectivity work with a quad-core CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz. On the inside of the Wi-Fi-only tablets is ticking an octa-core processor with quad cores set at 1.3GHz and the other four quads ticking at 1,9GHz. There is 3GB RAM for brilliant performance. The options for storage in the tablets are two – either 16GB or 32GB memory (expandable).

Both new tablets arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat OS pre-installed. Samsung has customized it with Magazine UX that brings some of the most popular features, like S Voice, Multi Windows split-screen view etc. The cameras of the first generation of the Galaxy Tab S line are very decent. On the back is provided 8MP sensor with LED flash while on the front stands a 2.1MP camera for video calls. The high-end devices support a broad range of connectivity features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE for the particular enabled models.

The difference in the size of the displays reflects on the difference in the capacity of the batteries. Galaxy Tab S 8.4 by a 4900mAh cell. The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 works with a 7900mAh battery. If I have to describe the availability of the tablets when they get launched in a few weeks, it will be – worldwide. The price of the Wi-Fi variant Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is $399 while the larger model will be available for $499.

The innovative feature that is worth mentioning is the fingerprint scanner located at the Home button. The tablets will be offered in Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White with faux leather accents on the back plates.

few words at the end: Galaxy Tab S are the first tablets of Samsung that deliver such an impressive visual experience for users.
