Sony at IFA: New Flagships on the Block Accompanied by a Tablet and New Gadgets


The Japanese manufacturer Sony is a leader in the digit world and often puts the beginning of a new trend on the mobile arena. Earlier this year, 6 months ago to be exact, the company unveiled Sony Xperia Z2 and its mini-variant Sony Xperia Z2 Compact. The flagships succeeded the high-end models presented in the fall of 2013. This year Sony announced its plans to release a second flagship before December. 

Just as planned, the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact entered the digit world. Even more, the manufacturer presented an entry-level handset and new generation wearable gadgets along with the flagships. 

Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are devices with similar specs and capabilities. Both models are outfitted with water- and dust-resistant panels made of metal and glass with IP65 and IP68 certificates. The models are equipped with a quad-core CPU 2.5GHz with Snapdragon 801 chip. The platform that powers the flagships is Android 4.4 KitKat. The primary camera armored in the smartphones is a 20.7MP Exmore RS sensor with LED flash. The camera on the front is with 2.2MP. If you expect to see LTE support in the list with specs of the handsets, you will not be disappointed. They are equipped with all connectivity features that suite a high-end device. 



The larger handset Xperia Z3 features 5.2-inch display TRILUMINOS with a resolution of 1080p. The smaller model Xperia Z3 Compact is packed with a 4.6-inch screen, 720p. The bigger sibling boasts 3GB RAM and a 3200mAh battery. The mini variant of the model comes with 2GB RAM and 2600mAh cell. Sony offers the phones in different colors. Xperia Z3 is coming in white, silber green, copper and black. The Xperia Z3 Compact will be available in black, green, white and orange. 

The mid-ranger that was introduced at IFA is Sony Xperia E3. It is the smallest device of the trip packed with 4.5-inch display, 480 x 854p. The processor working under the hood is with four cores ticking at 1.2GHz with 1GB RAM. Android 4.4 KitKat is running on the hardware. It has a 5MP camera on the rare panel and VGA front-facing sensor. The battery of the phone is with a capacity of 2330mAh. 


Along with the smartphones Sony introduced two wearable devices – the smartband Sony SmartBand Talk and the Sony SmartWatch 3. The smartwatch is equipped with 1.6-inch LCD screen. It has a resolution of 320 x 320p. The platform that powers the SmartWatch 3 is Android Wear.


Last but not least the new generation tablet by the company was unveiled. Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact comes with 8-inch TRILUMINOS full HD screen. It is water and dust-resistant. The processor working in the gut of the slate is quad-core 2.5GHz with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB RAM and 4500mAh battery. It is ultra-thin, only 6.4mm thick and 270 grams of weight.
